Today was my last day with Mary Lynn, she had an obligation Friday so would be taking tomorrow off. I brought her a bottle of wine, and made a painting with my liquid latex process. You make a painting with this process by doing layers of acrylic paint and layers of liquid latex and at the end you peel them off. I had her peel it off so she could see how it worked and showed her pictures of how it was made. I made a painting I've already made called Seasons that is pretty much down to a science. I showed the 8th grade art club the process and they were sad that I was leaving. I was making the card for Kathie during the 8th grade art club and they wondered what I was using to make it and I let them make their own drawing with the paint crayons I was using. They said they were sad I was leaving because they thought I was fun.
Mary Lynn got me a shirt earlier in the week as a parting gift. She invited me to see her daughter's play at Nottingham Friday so I'll see her there and think we'll keep in touch anyway so it's not a real goodbye. One time she told me that she really thought it was meant to be and felt very happy she got the chance to have me there and asked if I felt that from her and I told her yes. She's funny and says things like ass pig and has a quirky way about her that is endearing, comical, and touching at the same time. I saw some of the girls from the 8th grade art club at the play and they were all saying Hi Mrs. Davies and were excited to see me and I got to introduce Sonya to them. They were all really sweet.
I had my 3rd observation today. I forgot to look up the video before it began so that took a second. Two kids from the class ended up tearing each others art last week and it was nice to see them get along today. One that had their art ruined I let him know that I fixed it and he had a huge smile. The other who had his packed ripped, asked me if his packet was gone or ruined and I told him I taped it. I think after spending so much time on the project with the steps building it up, they valued it by the end.
I made copies of Mary Lynn's lessons before I left to take with me.
